About the Wunderkind Family Stories
Hi, I'm Mom Wunderkind!
This is my very first story, which I'm very excited to share. It's the only story that I wrote in third person point of view. Third person is where the narrator, me, tells the story using pronouns such as he and she and her and him.
I had planned on writing all of my stories in third person. However, after I published this one, Jake, my oldest son, said, “Mom, I want to be the one to tell the world about what it's like growing up in Boring Brook with these weird abilities.”
I actually really liked his idea, so from here on out, he and his siblings will be telling their own personal story.
Hope you enjoy the first and only Wunderkind Family story narrated in third person.

CHAPTER 1
Jake's Newest Discovery
“Jake,” shouted his mom from the kitchen table. “Don't forget to close the door.”
“Got it, mom!” Jake replied as he bolted outside.
Like every school day, Jake arrived home promptly at 2:20 p.m., had a snack, and did his homework. And as soon as he finished, he bolted outside to begin his next adventure.
Within minutes of being outside, Jake began lifting rocks and climbing trees. He made it a priority to explore every crevice of his backyard. The last thing he wanted was for his twin brother and sister, Josh and Madison, to find some rare artifact, like a lost treasure or dinosaur fossil, before he did.
As Jake probed his backyard, he noticed a thick ratty old log lying on the ground inches away from a trash can.
“Hmm?” Jake mumbled to himself.
He had never noticed the log there before.
Curious, he dashed to it.
As soon as he got there, he knelt down and carefully lifted one end of it.
His eyes opened wide.
There were all kinds of bugs—slimy ones, squirmy ones, and gooey ones.
Jake had hit the jackpot!
“Cool!” Jake whispered to himself, noticing some odd looking worm-like insects. “What are you thingamajigs?
They were as plump as a grape,
as whitish-gray as his grandfather's beard,
and as gooey as his mom's oatmeal.
Awesome! A new species of worms! Jake thought.
Within seconds, he shot up from the ground and ran as fast as he could to his garage.
Jake immediately began scanning every inch of his garage.
“Hmm?” he said, scratching his head. “Where is that darn bug catcher?”
His eyes zeroed in on a metal screened object next to his bicycle.
It was his catcher!
Jake hurried to it, picked it up, and checked it over. It looked good as new.
With his bug catcher in hand, he bolted back to the log and knelt down. Just as he was about to pick up one of the worms, he stopped dead in his tracks.
Jake remained frozen, staring at the worms.
Not even two weeks earlier, he had found a weird looking unclassified creature under a rock deep in the woods of his backyard. Impulsively, he touched it and it sprayed him in his eyes, causing them to sting and burn. His eyes were swollen and red for days.
What can I use to pick these thingamajigs up with? he thought, leaning back and scouting the ground.
Luckily, there was a large maple leaf laying on the ground just a few inches from where he was kneeling. Jake picked it up and then began sweeping the slimy worms into the army-like bug catcher. Once all twelve were in, he closed the cage door.
With his head held high, Jake walked proudly with it in hand into his home and up to his father's office, which was located on the second floor.
Jake knew if anyone would admire his newest discovery it would be his dad.
CHAPTER 2
The Worms Get a New Home
When Jake reached his dad's office, he quietly peeked through the office door key hole.
