2015 fand Rock am Ring das erste Mal auf dem Gelände des ehemaligen Bundeswehr-Flugplatzes in Mendig (Kreis Mayen/Koblenz) statt.

Der Musiksender MTV war einige Jahre Medienpartner der die Veranstaltungen aufzeichnete. Aktuell ist der Südwestrundfunk mit seinen Radioprogrammen SWR3 und Dasding sowie dem Fernseh-Digitalkanal EinsPlus Medienpartner. Zusätzlich bietet der SWR auf dem Festivalgelände auf einer eigenen UKW-Frequenz ein Festivalradio unter dem Namen SWR3-RaR bzw. SWR3-Rock am Ring an, dieser ist auch über DAB+ im SWR-Sendegebiet empfangbar.
