The word أُستاذ (ustaath) in Arabic is commonly used for a teacher, lawyer, or engineer. It is a matter of respect in Arab countries to use it when addressing someone in one of these professions, for example: أُستاذ عُمَر المُحامي (ustaath ‘omar al muhamee) (Mr Omar the lawyer).
