MATT, CLARISSA AND SAMANTHA WALK INSIDE. WE'RE A BEE HOVERING JUST SHY OF THE ENTRANCE. WE GREET THE THREE WITH A ZOOM. BRIAN LOOKS UP FROM A COMPUTER.
BRIAN
Clarissa. I don't wanna alarm you but there's a helicopter in the sky. It's less than a mile away. What do they want? Why are they here in the middle of nowhere? They're after the honey, Clarissa. They'll storm the hive. They'll take everything we've worked so hard to maintain. All our weed, our paper. Like it's words on paper they wanna burn.
CLARISSA
Brian!
CLARISSA WALKS OVER TO HIM.
BRIAN
Should I let everyone know?
HE'S TALKING FAST. CLARISSA PUTS A HAND ON BRIAN'S SHOULDER.
CLARISSA
Brian; what did I tell you about using the surveillance equipment while you're high?
BRIAN
Leave it alone 'til I'm low.
CLARISSA
Are you high now, Brian?
BRIAN
Yes.
CLARISSA
Then is it maybe possible that you're being just a little paranoid [5.]?
BRIAN
Zuckerberg has so much control over Facebook. He can just delete what he wants . . .
CLARISSA
Brian, this isn't cyberspace, this is the Honeybee Hive. Ok? Jon's not gonna let anyone touch it. That helicopter could be here for any number of reasons.
BRIAN
Sure?
CLARISSA
Yes.
CLARISSA TAPS MATT ON THE SHOULDER.
CLARISSA
Meet Matt.
SHE TURNS TO MATT.
CLARISSA
Matt, this is Brian. He's head of intelligence here. He designed the surveillance system. But he does get a little paranoid every now and then. He's not half as bad as the U.S. intelligence though. Think J. Edgar; know what I mean? But we are an indirect threat to the system so we always gotta have one eye on the skies [6.].
MATT NODS.
MATT

BRIAN
Hi Matt. Wanna see the Hive? We got cameras in each room. We can see everything from here.
CLARISSA TOUCHES ONE SCREEN. IT'S DISPLAYING A YELLOW-WALLED ROOM. PROTRUDING FROM THE WALLS ARE SMALLER WALLS THAT HAVE THEIR BASE ON THE LARGER ONE'S SURFACE AND HAVE BEEN ARRANGED TO FORM HEXAGONS THAT WRITE THE ENTIRE SURFACE LIKE ELEGANT SCRIPT. IN SOME SIT PEOPLE. THEY MIGHT BE CHATTING OR WATCHING TELEVISION OR EVEN BATHING.
CLARISSA
A honeycomb room. Like a honeymoon suite; plural, sweeeet. Ha ha. You'll love it there. It's where we just chill and relax. Did you know that competition can decrease life expectancy [1.] [2.]? Like fighting for that one woman all the men want. It's disgusting how out there in the wild world we're only allowed a single soulmate. Does everyone really believe that each person only has a single soulmate? It's ludicrous!
SAMANTHA
You know; status also increases life expectancy [1.] [3.], regardless of how rich you are [1.] [4.].
CLARISSA
Yep. That's why everyone loves me. The closer they are to me and my dad the better they feel.
MATT
You're forgetting how beautiful you are.
CLARISSA SMILES.
CLARISSA
No. I could never forget that. Ready for the tour?
MATT
For sure.
CLARISSA
Let's go.
CLARISSA LEAVES THE COMPUTER STATION.
CLARISSA
Thanks Brian. Look, try not to panic but if the copter does descend then give me a call, ok?
BRIAN
Of course.
CLARISSA PRESSES A BUTTON BESIDE SOME ELEVATOR DOORS. MEANWHILE WE FLY BY THE COMPUTER SCREENS. WE SEE THE ENTIRE EXPANSE OF THIS UNDERGROUND HIVE LAYING RIGHT IN FRONT OF US LIKE A WIDE, SANDY PLAIN; THIS HIDDEN DIMENSION OF UTAH, A FIRST CLASS WORLD.
